We are glad you have joined us for worship today.
You may notice we do things a little differently than most formal churches. The list below is some of our distinctives. If you have a question beyond our list, please be sure to ask!
Crossroads is a member of the Evangelical Free Church of America. We would be glad to share our Statement of Faith with you; we have copies available or you can read them on our website.
We are an Elder led church – we don’t have a position called “pastor”. Each of the elders takes his biblical role as outlined in the Bible: teaching, leading and protecting our body of believers.
We are informal – we come together and act as a family, there is no “worship show” here.
We are a small group – we cherish our intimacy and believe it is the biblical model. We have no desire to become a megachurch. We are not against growth, but we know it is not a measurement for spiritual growth.
Our seating arrangement - we believe that it is important that we face one another as we interact during worship. Families don’t sit in rows, they face one another to share their joys and sorrows. It is not about what happens on the stage.
We interact – it is the responsibility of everyone here to actively participate in our worship. The act of worship is giving, not sitting and getting.
We read a lot of Scripture - it is the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor should be judged. Therefore, it is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises. (from the EFCA Statement of Faith)
We spend time ministering to one another - we share our lives through praises and prayer requests and praying for one another. Don’t be surprised if people gather around those we are praying for.
We teach, rather than preach- it is not only our responsibility to share God’s Word, but to make sure what is taught is understood. Questions and comments during teaching are encouraged. We tend to go deep and thorough, not fast.
We don’t leave when the service is done – we are a small intimate group that ‘hangs out’ after church is done.
We use microphones – we use cameras for those joining us on Zoom. The microphones are used to be heard on Zoom and to be heard by the folks around you. Some folks speak quietly.
On Sunday morning you can join us online interactively on Zoom or find our teaching time on YouTube.
